The Professor Sena S. De Silva Memorial Research Scholarship awarding ceremony was held on 11^th May at the Board Room of the Faculty of Science, University of Kelaniya.

This event was organized by the Sri Lanka Association of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (SLAFAR) which established and managed this scholarship. SLAFAR is an association of professionals and practitioners working on interdisciplinary nature in the fields of fisheries, aquaculture, and aquatic sciences and housed in the Department of Zoology and Environmental Management, Faculty of Science, University of Kelaniya.

This Scholarship was established to honor the memory of Professor Sena S. De Silva, who was an academic staff member of the Department of Zoology, University of Kelaniya from 1968 to 1978. He was an internationally renowned Sri Lankan fisheries and aquaculture scientist who passed away on 6^th May 2020. This scholarship is awarded annually to cover registration fees of students engaged in M.Phil or PhD in fisheries, aquatic ecology, aquaculture, fisheries economics, and Sociology in Sri Lankan Universities.

This year's scholarship was awarded to Ms. N. Madhavi Sulochana Jayasekara, and the 2022 scholarship was awarded to Ms. Dulka Rajapaksha.
