The International Conference on Smart Computing and Systems Engineering (SCSE) 2023

The International Conference on Smart Computing and Systems Engineering (SCSE) 2023 was held on the 29th of June from 8.30 am onwards at the Department of Industrial Management (New Building).

This year, the conference was held for the sixth consecutive year.

The conference received technical sponsorship from the IEEE Sri Lanka Section while MAS Linea Aqua and SLT Mobitel became the platinum sponsors for the conference.

SCSE received 193 full paper submissions from researchers representing countries such as Australia, the United Kingdom, Japan, India, etc. and 29% of the submissions (56 full papers) were accepted. The accepted full papers will be indexed in SCOPUS and added to IEEE Xplore.

Two resource persons delivered keynote speeches at this conference. Accordingly, Dr. Yasantha Rajakarunanayake, Vice President of Research and AI Technology at Analog Inference, California, United States, delivered his keynote speech on "Innovation in the Age of Artificial Intelligence" while Professor Saman Halgamuge of the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Melbourne, Australia, delivered his keynote speech on "Machine Learning for Sustainable Energy".

Senior Professor S. R. D. Kalingamudali, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Chairman of the Research Council, Senior Professor Kapila Senavirathne, Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies, Professor Janaka Wijayanayake, Head of the Department of Industrial Management and Conference Chair, and Dr. Amila Withanaarachchi of the Department of Industrial Management participated as the distinguished guests of the event.

Academic and non-academic staff, researchers, and undergraduates of the Department of Industrial Management were also present at the occasion.

Moreover, in conjunction with SCSE 2023, the Department of Industrial Management organized two pre-conference workshops on the 27th and 28th of June 2023 at the University of Kelaniya. The first workshop, titled "Transforming Data into Actionable Insights: PowerBI Analytics Workshop," was conducted by Lecturer Hiruni Niwunhella of the Department of Industrial Management and the second workshop titled "Data-driven Decision Making: Exploring Analytics and Warehousing Strategies" was conducted by Senior Lecturer Dinesh Asanka of the same department.

Both workshops witnessed active participation from university academics, data analysts, corporate executives, and graduate students.
