Two academics from the University of Kelaniya represent the University at a CCA-DRR training event in UK

A training program on “Tackling Climate Change as an Underlying Disaster Risk Driver”  organized by the Global Disaster Resilience Centre (GRDC) of the University of Huddersfield was held from 26th June to 7th July 2023 at the University of Huddersfield in UK.

Two academics, Dr. B. G. N. Sewwandi, Academic Lead for CCA-DRR and Professor V. P. A.  Weerasinghe of the Department of Zoology and Environmental Management participated in this training program representing the University of Kelaniya.

Dr. Chamindi Malalgoda, Project Manager, CCA-DRR, Professor Dilanthi Amaratunga, and Professor Richard Haigh of the Global Disaster Resilience Center, University of Huddersfield organized the training program funded by the CCA-DRR project through the ERASMUS+ International Credit Mobility Program.

The training program included a research symposium, guest lectures, brainstorming sessions, panel discussions, developing a research road map, field visits, and joint publications.  Further, the program helped in building multidisciplinary research collaborations among academics of universities from Sri Lanka and the University of Huddersfield, UK.

Twenty-four academics participated this training program representing eight Sri Lankan Universities.
