The scholarship awarding ceremony organized by the Alumni Association of the Faculty of Science, University of Kelaniya was held on Tuesday, 5^th of September 2023 at the Board Room of the Faculty of Science, University of Kelaniya.

The main objective of the ceremony was to provide financial support to undergraduates.

Senior Professor Sudath R. D. Kalingamudali, Dean of the Faculty of Science was the chief guest of the ceremony.

In this academic year (2021/2022), a total of 57 financially disadvantaged yet academically accomplished undergraduate students received scholarships. Five students were awarded LKR 5,000 per month, twenty-one students were awarded LKR 2,500 per month, three students were awarded LKR 1,500 per month and twenty students were awarded one-time scholarships of LKR 6,000 each. Additionally, eight students were honored with the "Professor Sudath R. D. Kalingamudali and his Family Scholarship" this year, and each of these students will receive LKR 5,000 per month. The awarding ceremony was graced with the presence of distinguished guests, including the Dean of the Faculty of Science, esteemed faculty members, generous alumni, and students.
