The Faculty of Science at the University of Kelaniya, through the collaborative efforts of the Staff Development Center and the Alumni Association of the Faculty of Science, organized a one-day workshop on Scientific Laboratory Management on the 2^nd of February 2024. The event took place at the Staff Development Center, University of Kelaniya.

Distinguished speakers included Dr. Dilini Galpaya, Senior Laboratory Technician at Queensland University of Technology, Australia, and Mr. Karl Jaques, Laboratory Technician at Coogee Chemicals, Australia. The workshop covered topics such as Laboratory Management, Becoming a Laboratory Technician, Roles as a Laboratory Technician, Types of Scientific Laboratories, Maintaining Lab Health-Security-Environment, Risk Assessment, Chemical Management, and Waste Disposal.

A total of 47 technical officers from the University of Kelaniya, University of Colombo, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Uwa Welassa University, University of Jaffna, and Eastern University of Sri Lanka, as well as undergraduates from Kaatsu International University, actively participated in this insightful workshop.
