Inaugural Ceremony of the Master of Data Analytics (MDA) Programme – 2026 Intake Held at the University of Kelaniya

The Department of Industrial Management, University of Kelaniya, hosted the Inaugural Ceremony of the Master of Data Analytics (MDA) Programme – 2026 Intake on 28 March 2026 at the Auditorium of the Department of Industrial Management.

The Master of Data Analytics programme is designed to equip graduates from diverse academic backgrounds with the knowledge and skills required to analyze complex data and develop data-driven solutions to modern industry challenges. The programme focuses on building competencies in statistics, programming, machine learning, and advanced analytical tools, enabling graduates to pursue careers in rapidly growing fields such as data science, business analytics, and artificial intelligence.

The inaugural ceremony was graced by the presence of Senior Professor P. A. Paranagama, Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies, and Professor Jeewantha Premaratne, Dean of the Faculty of Science, as distinguished guests. The event included welcome remarks, addresses by the invited guests, and an introduction to the academic structure and expectations of the programme.

Through this programme, the University of Kelaniya aims to develop highly skilled professionals capable of meeting the growing demand for data analytics expertise in sectors such as banking, finance, healthcare, telecommunications, retail, and manufacturing. The programme also provides opportunities for both computing and non-computing graduates to acquire industry-relevant analytical skills and pursue careers in the field of data analytics.

The event marked the beginning of an important academic journey for the new cohort of students, who will gain knowledge and practical expertise in data analytics, preparing them to address real-world challenges through innovative and data-driven approaches.

The event was attended by Ms Piyumi Karunarathna, the Coordinator, and the academic and non-academic staff of the University, along with the students of the Master of Data Analytics (MDA) Programme.
