9th International Research Conference on Smart Computing and Systems Engineering (SCSE 2026) Concludes Successfully

The 9th International Research Conference on Smart Computing and Systems Engineering (SCSE 2026), proudly presented by the Department of Industrial Management, University of Kelaniya, stands as a distinguished platform that brings together innovation, intellect, and interdisciplinary excellence. Held on 26th March 2026 at the Auditorium of the Department of Industrial Management, the conference marked a significant milestone in fostering cutting-edge research and meaningful academic exchange.

Six hundred and eighty-two submissions, evaluated through a rigorous selection process with a 32% acceptance rate, were refined into 217 outstanding research papers, representing the highest standards of academic and professional excellence. Distributed across eight specialized tracks, this body of work reflects both the depth and the evolving diversity of the field, with strong international collaboration and a notable presence of female first authors shaping the research landscape.

At the very pinnacle of technological advancement, these dynamic fields continue to redefine the way we live, work, and connect with the world. From artificial intelligence and machine learning to innovation, information technology, education, and supply chain management, SCSE 2026 provided a vital platform to explore their vast possibilities and transformative potential.

The ceremonial inauguration was graced by Senior Prof. Nilanthi De Silva, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya; Professor Jeewantha Premaratne, Dean of the Faculty of Science; Dr Sudath Senarath, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities; Senior Professor Gihan Dias, Professor at the University of Moratuwa and the Keynote Speaker for the day; Dr Ruvan Weerasinghe, Honorary Chair of SCSE 2026; and other esteemed guests whose presence added profound significance to this occasion.

The esteemed financial sponsors for the Conference were, IEEE, IEEE Sri Lanka Section, IEEE Computer Society, IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, IEEE Industry Applications Society, and Huawei, and their invaluable support in making this conference a reality and enabling a truly enriching experience for all participants.

Additionally, the ceremony was attended by the academic and non-academic staff members of the Faculty of Science, along with the presenters.

SCSE 2026 will be added to the legacy as a convergence of ideas, a catalyst for collaboration, and a step forward in shaping the future of smart computing and systems engineering.
