The Grand Finale of “HackX Junior 2K18” organized by the Industrial Management Science Students’ Association- IMSSA of the Department of Industrial Management, Faculty of Science, University of Kelaniya was held on the 26th of October 2018 at the Multimedia Room of the Department of Industrial Management. This was organized with the objective of providing an opportunity for school children to express their ideas and the exposure they desperately require in this technology centric world.

An awareness session on “HackX Junior 2K18” aiming school children and teachers was held on the 03rd of October 2018. They were provided with a basic introduction to Hackathon, areas to focus on Developing Solutions and Technological Tools.

Out of 84 proposals, 15 teams were short listed for the final round of the competition and the team Y_NOT from Wariyapola Sri Sumangala National College won the Championship. The team SafeRails from Maris Stella College- Thimbirigaskatuwa won the first runners up while the team INFINITE from Nalanda College- Colombo won the second runners up.

Mr. Malinda Rathnayake, Senior Tech Lead- IdeaMart Dialog Axiata PLC, Mr. Sachindra Samararatne, Program Manager- Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka and Mr. Buddhika Jayawardhana, Lecturer- Department of Industrial Management represented the board of judges.

Senior Lecturer Dr. Ruwan Wickramarachchi, Head- Department of Industrial Management, Senior Lecturer Dr. Dilani Wickramaarachchi, Senior Treasurer- IMSSA, academic staff members of the Department of Industrial Management, Dialog IdeaMart Team, undergraduates from the Department of Industrial Management graced the inauguration.
