Senior Prof. Upali Amarasinghe of the Department of Zoology and Environmental Management, Faculty of Science, University of Kelaniya has received an honorary doctorate from the University of Ruhuna.

He was bestowed the title of Degree of Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa) at the 26^th Convocation of the University of Ruhuna on 29^th of November, 2019 at the Rabindranath Tagore Memorial Auditorium, University of Ruhuna, Wellamadama, Matara.

Senior Prof. Upali Amarasinghe obtained Bachelor of Science (Special) Degree in Zoology from the University of Kelaniya and Master of Science in Fisheries Biology and Management from the University of Wales. Furthermore, he obtained Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Ruhuna and Doctor of Science from Bangor University.
