A special event was held on 08^th of March at the auditorium of Faculty of Social Sciences for the 7^th Commemoration of the Eminent Archaeologist Professor Emeritus Senake Bandaranayake.

It was organized by the Department of Archaeology together with the Postgraduate Institute of Archaeology under the patronage of the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences. 

The commendable service of Prof. Senake Bandaranayake to uplift the field of Archaeology and to develop the Postgraduate Institute of Archaeology was appreciated at the ceremony. Further, Prof. Jagath Weerasinghe shared the gathering with the archaeological service and philosophy of Prof. Senake Bandaranayake while Prof. A.A.D. Amarasekara talked about his skills at administration. Moreover, Prof. Gamini Adhikari, Director, Postgraduate Institute of Archaeology made a speech about Prof. Senake Bandaranayake and the Postgraduate Institute of Archaeology.    

Dr. Shriyani Hathurusinghe, Head, Department of Archaeology, Senior Prof. Prishantha Gunawardhana and the academic staff, Prof. Patrick Ratnayake, Prof. Jinadasa Danansuriya, Dr. Sirinimal Lakdusinghe, others guests who were close acquaintances of Prof. Senake Bandaranayake and students reading for BA (Hons) in Archaeology participated in the event.
