The Awards Ceremony of the winners of the Art and Essay Competition ‘sēdamāvata’, jointly organized by the Sri Lanka - China Collaboration Association and the Department of Sinhala of the University of Kelaniya, was held on the 13^th of December 2022 at the Auditorium of the Ministry of Education.

The ceremony was held under the patronage of the Minister of Transport and Highways and Minister of Mass Media, Hon. (Dr.) Bandula Gunawardena.

Prof. Emeritus Rohana Lakshman Piyadasa of the Department of Mass Communication of the University of Kelaniya was the keynote speaker of the event while Parivenadhipathi and Director of the Vidyalankara Pirivena, Ven. Welamitiyawe Gnanarathana Thera, the secretary of the Sri Lanka - China Collaboration Association, Ven. Prof. Malvane Chandrathana Thera, the vice-president Prof. Ma Chun Wu of the Department of Sinhala of the Beijing Foreign Studies University, and a large crowd including the officials of the Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka and the Ministry of Education, professors and lecturers at the University of Kelaniya were present at the ceremony.

Moreover, over one hundred children who won prizes and their parents participated in the award ceremony, which was held with the aim of further strengthening the long-standing friendship, mutual understanding, and cooperation between China and Sri Lanka.
