The Inauguration Ceremony of the Diploma in Mass Communication and the Diploma in Public Relations and Media Management organized by the Department of Mass Communication was held on the 06^th of August 2023 at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Kelaniya.

The event was organized to celebrate the commencement of the two diploma courses and warmly welcome the new batches of students.

Professor M. M. Gunatilake, the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences graced the event as the Chief Guest while Mr. Kanchana Dassanayake, the Chief Editor of Sunday Lankadeepa newspaper delivered the keynote speech emphasizing the need of analyzing media content and learning mass communication as a subject as well as a practice.

Among the distinguished attendees were Senior Lecturer Mr. Wijayananda Rupasinghe, the Head of the Department of Mass Communication, and Senior Lecturer Mr. Aruna Lokuliyana, the former Head of the Department of Mass Communication. The two coordinators of the Diploma programs, lecturers of the Department of Mass Communication, and the candidates of the Diploma courses were also present at the occasion.
