The National Media Summit organized by the Department of Mass Communication in collaboration with the India-Sri Lanka Foundation was held on 14th and 15th December 2023 at the University of Kelaniya.

The inauguration ceremony was on 14th December in the Faculty Board Room of the Faculty of Social Sciences and the event was organized to share knowledge and experience between India and Sri Lanka in the field of Communication and Media Studies. There were six-panel sessions organized on related topics for the two days of the summit.

Senior Professor Nilanthi de Silva, Vice Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya, graced the event as the Chief Guest. Professor Manukonda Rabindranath, the Chairperson of the Center for Media Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, India, and Dr. Archana Kumari, Jawaharlal Nehru University, India were the special guests of the summit. Academics in Communication and Media Studies of higher education institutions in Sri Lanka also participated in the event.
