The diploma and higher diploma awarding ceremony for the Higher Diploma in Communication and Public Relations, Diploma in Mass Communication, and Diploma in Public Relations and Media Management, offered by the Department of Mass Communication, University of Kelaniya, was successfully held on 27th July 2025 at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Social Sciences.

The event was held under the precedence of Professor M. M. Gunatilake, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences.

A total of 90 diploma and higher diploma holders from the 5th Batch of the Higher Diploma in Communication and Public Relations, 19th Batch of the Diploma in Mass Communication, and 7th Batch of the Diploma in Public Relations and Media Management, received their certificates during the ceremony. Notably, three diploma holders from each program were awarded gold medals in recognition of their outstanding performance.

Mr. Mahesh Jayawardena, Senior General Manager (Administration) of Derana Media Network and Project Chairman of Manusath Derana, graced the occasion as the guest speaker. He delivered an insightful address on the topic, “Education and Human Relations,” sharing valuable perspectives on the timely importance of tactfulness and creativity in terms of education, fostering humanity, and building relationships practically.

The event was further dignified by the presence of Senior Lecturer Dr. Manoj Jinadasa, Head of the Department of Mass Communication; Senior Lecturer Amali Uthpala Nandasiri, Coordinator of the Higher Diploma in Communication and Public Relations; Lecturer Dilini Gamage, Coordinator of the Diploma in Public Relations and Media Management; Lecturer Ileka Ruwanpathirana, Coordinator of the Diploma in Mass Communication; along with other academic and non-academic staff members, diploma and advanced diploma holders, and their family members.
