AI Literacy for All Programme Successfully Concludes at the Faculty of Social Sciences

The Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Kelaniya, successfully concluded the AI Literacy for All certificate programme on 13 June 2026 with a certificate awarding ceremony held at the Faculty Auditorium.
The programme was organized in collaboration with the Lanka Education and Research Network (LEARN) and was specially designed to enhance AI literacy among undergraduate students. The programme was conducted using a blended learning approach, combining online learning sessions with face-to-face engagement activities to provide participants with both theoretical knowledge and practical exposure to Artificial Intelligence technologies.
The physical session and certificate awarding ceremony were held at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Social Sciences, bringing together students, academic staff, and programme facilitators. A total of 169 students successfully completed the programme and qualified for certification, demonstrating their commitment to developing AI-related knowledge and skills that are increasingly important in today's digital world.
The programme was facilitated by Prof. Roshan G. Ragel, Chief Executive Officer of LEARN, and Dr Pamila Gamage, who guided students through the various components of the AI literacy curriculum. Their expertise and engaging delivery greatly contributed to the success of the programme.
The initiative was coordinated by Mr Indrajith Jayasooriya, Acting Head of the Department of Information Technology, Faculty of Social Sciences, whose efforts ensured the smooth organization and successful completion of the programme.
The ceremony was graced by the presence of Prof. Osantha N. Thalpawila, Head of the Department of Political Science.
