Special Workshop on Human Rights and Fundamental Rights

A special workshop on human rights and fundamental rights organized by the Department of Political Science, University of Kelaniya was held on the 02nd of October 2018 at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Social Sciences.
This workshop which was held with the objective of establishing a strong social negotiation through the development of theoretical and practical knowledge of undergraduates who follow Bachelor of Arts (Special) Degree in Political Science, aimed at second year undergraduates of Bachelor of Arts (Special) Degree in Political Science.
The lawyer, Mr. Herman Kumara, Convener- National Fisheries Solidarity Movement (NAFSO) also graced the event which was held under the patronage of Prof. D.M. Semasinghe, Vice- Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya.
The lawyer, Mr. Sampath Pushpakumara participated in the event as the resource person and conducted lectures under three themes. Accordingly, he conducted lectures on historical evolution of human rights, introduction to mechanism of the United Nations to protect human rights and fundamental rights of the Constitution of Sri Lanka.
Prof. A.H.M.H. Abayarathne, Dean- Faculty of Social Sciences, Senior Lecturer Ms. Yamuna Ranjani Mendis, Head- Department of Political Science, Heads of the Departments of Faculty of Social Sciences and academic staff members participated in the event.
The workshop was held under the main sponsorship of National Fisheries Solidarity Movement (NAFSO).
