The celebration of Deepavali organized for the first time by the Peace Club of the Department of Philosophy, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Kelaniya was held on the 08th of November 2018 at the Department of Philosophy. The celebration was organized with the objective of providing an insight into Deepavali festival and improving cooperation among religions at the university level.

The event comprised of Hindu cultural performances related to Deepavali and a vivid image was created through the drawn Kolam designs and the lamps lit by the undergraduates. Moreover, the undergraduates got an opportunity to taste some food items which are unique to Hindus.

Senior Lecturer Dr. Thranga Dharanitha, Head- Department of Philosophy, Prof. Gamini Hapuarachchi including the staff members of the Department of Philosophy, academic staff members of the other departments, undergraduates who study Philosophy, Peace and Conflict Resolution and Psychology participated in the programme.
