The inauguration of the Diploma & Higher Diploma in Library and Information Science 2019 offered by the Department of Library and Information Science, University of Kelaniya was held on the 09^th of June 2019 at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Social Sciences.

Present at the occasion were Senior Prof. Lakshman Senevirathne, Deputy Vice- Chancellor, Prof. A.H.M.H. Abayarathna, Dean- Faculty of Social Sciences, Senior Lecturer Dr. Namali Suraweera, Head- Department of Library and Information Science, academic staff members of the department and the newly enrolled students. Emeritus Prof. Kulathilaka Kumarasinghe, Chief Editor- Sinhala Encyclopedia delivered the keynote address of the event.
