The Men’s Carrom team of the University of Kelaniya won the Carrom Championship

of XIV SLUG 2023 for the 2^nd consecutive time during the tournament held on the 5^th and 6^th of August 2023 at the premises of the University of Colombo. 

Accordingly, in the semi-finals, the University of Kelaniya won against Rajarata University with a score of 3-2. In the quarter-finals, they emerged as winners against Eastern University with a score of 4-1. In the final match, the University of Kelaniya beat the University of Sri Jayewardenepura with a score of 4-1 to win the championship.

During the group matches, the University of Kelaniya team defeated the South Eastern University and the University of Vavuniya with a score of 5-0 each. During the match with the University of Jaffna, the University of Kelaniya managed to win with a score of 3-2.

Senior Professor (Chair) H. D. Karunaratne, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Colombo participated as the Chief Guest of the awarding ceremony.

Present at the occasion were Dr. Kapila Bandara, Charman Sports Advisory, University of Colombo, Mr. B. A. N. Krishantha, Registrar of the Gampaha Wickramarachchi University of Indigenous Medicine, Mr. C. G. Kothalawala, Bursar of the Gampaha Wickramarachchi University of Indigenous Medicine, and Instructors of the University of Colombo and other universities.
