Ms. B. S. L. Mendis, a student at the University of Kelaniya has achieved an outstanding feat at the Track & Field Championship of the XIV SLUG 2023

organized by the Eastern University of Sri Lanka, which was held recently at Sugathadasa Stadium, Colombo. 

Mendis achieved this new meet record in the women’s 400m track and field event. Representing the university and showcasing an exceptional record of 54.95 seconds, demonstrates the athleticism, and determination of Mendis, and her achievement highlights the institution's commitment to sporting excellence. She also achieved 1st place in Women’s 200m with a performance of 25.23 in track and field events.

Prof. V. Kanagasingam was the Chief Guest of the opening ceremony and Prof. N. Rajeshwaran, President of the Sri Lanka Universities Sports Association (SLUSA) was the Guest of Honor. Fifteen universities have taken part in the Track and Field Championship of the XIV SLUG 2023.
