The University of Kelaniya has achieved a remarkable feat by winning both the men's and women's titles at the Inter-University Volleyball Championship 2024. The championship took place from 6^th to 9^th of September 2024 at the University of Peradeniya, showcasing some of the best talents in university sports.

The University of Kelaniya won the Men’s Championship, while the University of Jaffna and the University of Ruhuna won the 1^st runner-up and the 2^nd runner-up, respectively.

Also, the University of Kelaniya secured the Women’s Championship, while the University of Sri Jayewardenepura and the University of Colombo won the 1^st runner-up and the 2^nd runner-up, respectively.

In a thrilling series of matches, the Kelaniya teams displayed exceptional skill, teamwork, and determination, overcoming tough competition from all the state universities across the country. The men's team secured their victory in a closely contested final, while the women's team demonstrated dominance throughout the tournament.

This double victory not only highlights the strength of the University of Kelaniya's volleyball program but also sets a precedent for future competitions. It marks a historical milestone, as this is the first time that both the men’s and women’s teams have won the Inter-University Volleyball Championship. The teams were celebrated for their hard work and dedication with the Department of Physical Education, Sports Advisory Board, Team Manager (Prof. Ajith Dissanayaka), Team Coach (Mr. Channa Jayasekara), Volleyball Alumni, and supporters, praising their commitment to excellence.
