The ‘Inter-University Weight Lifting Championship 2024’ was held from 26^th to 28^th of October 2024 at the University of Ruhuna. Teams from both men and women categories, representing all state universities, participated in this competition.

In this competition,  the weightlifting team from the University of Kelaniya emerged victorious, securing 02 Gold Medals, 01 Silver Medal, and 01 Bronze Medal.

In the women’s category, K. P. M. Achinthika secured first place in the 87kg weight class, while A. M. T. D. Thilakarathna won first place in the 55kg weight class, H. M. T. Tharindu Lakshan claimed second place in the 73kg weight class, and W. M. R. P. Wijesinghe secured third place in the 96kg weight class, in the men’s category.
