The ‘Inter-University Chess Championship 2024’ was held on the 6^th, 7^th and 8^th of December 2024 at the University of the Visual and Performing Arts. Teams from both men and women categories, representing all state universities, participated in this competition.

During this competition, the Women’s chess team of the University of Kelaniya secured the 1^st    runner-up position, while the Men’s team became the 2^nd runner-up.

In the women’s category, the University of Peradeniya claimed the championship, followed by the University of Moratuwa as the 2^nd runner-up. In the men’s category, the University of Moratuwa secured the championship, with the University of Peradeniya taking the 1^st runner-up.
