The ‘Inter-University Badminton Championship 2024’ was held from the 29^th of November to 1^st of December 2024 at the University of Kelaniya. The inauguration of the competition was presided by Senior Professor Nilanthi de Silva, Vice-chancellor of the University of Kelaniya.

Teams from both men and women categories, representing all state universities, participated in this competition.

During the competition, the Men’s Badminton team of the University of Kelaniya won the championship, marking a historic milestone by claiming the first-ever Men’s Badminton Championship title. At the same time, the Women’s team secured the 2^nd runners-up position. In the men’s category, the University of Sri Jayewardenepura claimed the 1^st runners-up position, followed by the University of Colombo as the 2^nd Runners-up. In the women’s category, the University of Sri Jayewardenepura secured the championship, with University of Colombo taking the 1^st runner-up.
