The University of Kelaniya proudly clinched the overall 1st Runner-Up after 41 years in the history of the Inter-University Championship 2024, marking a significant milestone for the university.

The Inter-University Championships 2024 were held from the 24th of August to the 15th of December 2024, under 24 sports disciplines, with participation from 16 state universities, who are members of the Sri Lanka Universities Sports Association (SLUSA).

The University of Sri Jayewardenepura emerged as the overall champions, while the University of Colombo secured the overall 2nd Runner-Up position.

This achievement reflects the outstanding dedication and performance of the University of Kelaniya's athletes, showcasing their exceptional talent and team spirit.

This remarkable accomplishment highlights the exceptional talent, dedication, and team spirit of the University of Kelaniya's athletes. It also reflects the immense support and guidance provided by the Sports Advisory Board (SAB), chaired by Senior Professor S. R. D. Kalingamudali, Dean of the Faculty of Science. The commitment of the team managers, the staff of the Department of Physical Education led by Mr. G. G. U. Saman Kumara, its instructors, and the coaches of the sports teams was instrumental in achieving this success.
