An event organized by the Department of Physical Education, University of Kelaniya, to celebrate and honor the students who excelled at the Inter-University Championship 2024, was held on the 7^th of January 2025, at the Dharmaloka Hall, under the precedence of Senior Professor Nilanthi de Silva, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya.

The University of Kelaniya proudly secured the overall 1st Runner-Up position at the Inter-University Championship 2024, marking a historic milestone as it achieved this feat after 41 years.

The Inter-University Championship 2024 was held from the 24th of August to the 15th of December 2024, under 24 sports disciplines, with participation from 16 state universities, who are members of the Sri Lanka Universities Sports Association (SLUSA).

The students who brought glory to the university were hugely honored during the event, which celebrated their exceptional achievements and dedication.

The celebration event was graced by Senior Professor S. R. D. Kalingamudali, Dean of the Faculty of Science, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies, and Chairman of the Sports Advisory Board; Mr. G. G. U. Saman Kumara, Director of Physical Education; members of the Sports Advisory Board; officials of the Department of Physical Education; and all members of the sports teams, University of Kelaniya.
