Subodha Supuni Gamage Wins Championship at ATF Asian Throwball Championship 2025

Subodha Supuni Gamage, a third-year undergraduate at the Faculty of Science, University of Kelaniya, pursuing a BSc Honours Degree in Sports Science under the Sports and Exercise Science Unit, brought pride to the university by winning the Championship in the Women’s Team category at the ATF Asian Throwball Championship 2025.

The championship, organized by Throwball National Indonesia (TNI) and the Asian Throwball Federation (ATF), was held on the 2nd and 3rd of May 2025 at Gedung Olahraga Raja Djafar, Tiban Batam, Indonesia.

Competing against top-tier national teams from India, Malaysia, and Indonesia, the Sri Lanka Women’s Team emerged victorious, with Subodha playing a key role in the team’s success. Her remarkable skill and determination were instrumental in securing the title. This achievement not only highlights Subodha’s dedication and talent but also brings immense pride to the University of Kelaniya and its community.

Subodha Gamage also met with Senior Professor Nilanthi de Silva, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya on the 9th of May 2025 at the Vice-Chancellor’s office. The occasion was graced by the presence of Senior Professor Sudath R. D. Kalingamudali, Chairman of the Sports Advisory Board and Dean of the Faculty of Science, and Mr. G.  G.  U.  Saman Kumara, Acting Director of Physical Education at the University of Kelaniya.

Code Terriers Pvt. Ltd generously provided full sponsorship for Subodha’s participation, covering all expenses including airfare, food, and accommodation. This support was made possible following a request by Senior Professor Sudath R. D. Kalingamudali.
