Rasara Wijesuriya Sets New Sri Lankan Record and Achieves Historic Placement at Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games

Rasara Wijesuriya, a third-year undergraduate of the Faculty of Science, University of Kelaniya, following the BSc Honours in Sports Science, set a new Sri Lankan record in the Women’s 10,000 metres with a remarkable time of 32:52.20 on the 21st of July 2025 at the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games – Summer. She secured 8th place in the finals, marking the highest-ever placement by a Sri Lankan athlete in the history of the World University Games.
This exceptional performance surpasses her own previous national record of 33:21.62, representing a significant milestone in her athletic career and a proud moment for Sri Lankan athletics.
