Rasara Wijesuriya, a third-year undergraduate of the Faculty of Science, University of Kelaniya, pursuing a BSc Honours degree in Sports Science, has qualified for the finals of the women’s 5000m event at the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games – Summer, held in Rhine-Ruhr, Germany.

She clocked a personal best time of 16:00.30, marking the second-fastest 5000m performance ever recorded by a Sri Lankan woman, on the 24^th of July, 2025. This remarkable achievement not only showcases her individual dedication and talent but also highlights the growing strength of athletics at the University of Kelaniya.
