The University of Kelaniya delivered an impressive performance at the 3x3 Basketball Tournament in open women’s category hosted by the University of Sri Jayewardenepura on 13 June 2026, securing the runners-up position after a strong run to the final.

Kelaniya began the tournament with two victories in the group stage, defeating Blacks 5–4 and Mora (Whites) 7–1. Carrying that momentum into the knockout rounds, they edged past Air Force 6–5 in a closely contested quarter-final.

In the semi-final, the University of Kelaniya produced another solid performance, overcoming APIIT 7–4 to book their place in the championship game.

The final saw Kelaniya face Serpents in a hard-fought encounter. Despite a determined effort, Kelaniya narrowly fell short, losing 4–3 and finishing the tournament as runners-up.

The team's outstanding performances throughout the day highlighted their skill, determination, and competitive spirit, making it a memorable tournament campaign for the University of Kelaniya.
