Professor Jiajuan Xiong of the Southwestern University of Finance and Economics (SWUFE), Chengdu, China, called upon Senior Professor Nilanthi De Silva, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya on the 25^th of June 2023 at the Vice-Chancellor’s office during her research visit to the University of Kelaniya.

During this visit, she conveyed greetings and presented a memento from Professor Zhuo Zhi, the President of the SWUFE.

Moreover, discussions were held on the 13^th of June at the Department of Linguistics with Dr. Kavithaa Rajarathnam, the Head of the Department of Linguistics and the Former Head Ms. Kumudu Gamage. During the discussion, Professor Xiong declared that a full scholarship of three years will be offered to a graduate of Linguistics to pursue a Master’s in Linguistics at the SWUFE from September 2023. She also met graduates and undergraduates of BA Honours in Linguistics with regard to her current project on Nominal Phrases in Chinese and Sinhala and conducted research at the university library.

Present at the occasion were Senior Professor Neelakshi C. Premawardhena, Director - Centre for International Affairs, Ms. Sashini Chandrasekara, Coordinator - International Cooperation, and Ms. Sanduni Iddamalgoda, Coordinator - International Student Affairs.
