An MoU was signed between the University of Kelaniya and the Sri Siddhartha Palm Leaf Manuscript Study and Research Institute (SSPLMSRT) on the 18^th of July 2023 at the Vice Chancellor’s Office of the University of Kelaniya.

This MoU was signed as a collaborative venture with the aim of promoting the relationship between SSPLMSRT and the University of Kelaniya in order to develop the educational, research, and training activities related to the Palm Leaf Manuscript Management including the exploration of indigenous knowledge stored in those manuscripts for the efficient collection, organization and safer delivery of those needed.

Present at the occasion were Senior Professor Nilanthi de Silva, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya, Most Venerable Thibbotuwawe Buddharakkhitha Thero, the Director of Sri Siddhartha Palm Leaf Manuscript Study and Research Institute, Mr. K. K. K. Dharmathilake, the Registrar of the University of Kelaniya, Senior Professor M. K. Weerasinghe, Head of the Department of Library and Information Science, Senior Professor W. A. Weerasooriya of the Department of Library and Information Science, Senior Professor Malinga Amarasinghe of the Department of Archaeology, Mr. Hasitha Chamikara Gunasinghe of the Department of History, and Venerable  Hemmathagama Piyadassi Thero.
