The University of Kelaniya was nominated to serve as the host university for the Steering Committee meeting which was held on the 30^th of June 2023.

The Steering Committee of the RecoAsia project is funded by the EU under its Erasmus+ programme. The project brings together 15 partner institutions from seven countries which are: Italy, Estonia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Mongolia, to engage in activities related to international cooperation in the recognition of higher education qualifications. The University of Kelaniya was nominated to serve as the host university for the Steering Committee meeting as Senior Professor Nilanthi de Silva, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya was a member of the Ministry of Education team.

Furthermore, the delegates were taken on a tour of the university library, the library museum, as well as the Kelaniya Rajamaha Viharaya as part of the programme.

The RecoAsia Steering Committee meeting was held back-to-back with an International Conference on Qualifications Frameworks and Recognition of Qualifications, held at the Hotel Galadari on 28 – 29 June 2023, with the participation of approximately about 200 delegates from 12 countries.
