Leo Club of the University of Kelaniya Honored as "Most Outstanding Leo Club of Leo District 306 B2"

The Leo Club of the University of Kelaniya has once again demonstrated exceptional leadership and community service by successfully executing 34 impactful projects over the past few months, reaching more than 33 million beneficiaries across various focus areas.
In recognition of their outstanding service and dedication, the club received top honors at the 20th Annual Award Ceremony of Leo Distict 306 B2, held on 21st June 2025 at Trace Expert City, Colombo 01. The Leo Club of the University of Kelaniya was proudly awarded the prestigious title of "Most Outstanding Leo Club of Leo District 306 B2," and the club earned prestigious recognitions as the “Most Outstanding University-Based Omega Leo Club”, “Best IT-Enabled Leo Club”, and “Highest Net Membership Growth”, marking a year of undying passion, visionary leadership, unstoppable momentum, and resounding success.
Moreover, the UOK Leos proudly secured 30 Project Awards at this prestigious event, under various impactful categories such as: childhood cancer, disaster management, spotlight on children, senior citizens’ development, helping hand to the differently-abled, etc.
In total, the UoK Leos were also recognized with 52 awards, including 30 Project Awards, 5 Individual Awards, 4 Key Awards, 7 District President Appreciation Awards, and 6 Special Appreciation Awards.
Among individuals, the extraordinary UOK Leos were also crowned with honor for their outstanding efforts and bold commitment to Leoism, opening the golden gates of excellence and inspiration. Senior Lecturer Dr. Chathuni Jayasinghe was recognized as the Most Outstanding Staff Advisor, while Leo Navodya Dhananjani earned the title of Most Outstanding Bulletin Editor. Leo Devini Liyana Gunawardhana was awarded as the Most Outstanding Chief Coordinator (PR & Publicity), and PMDP Lion Rajitha Abeygunasekara MAF received the honor of Most Outstanding Club Advisor. Additionally, Leo Kisal Gimhan was named 2nd Runner-Up in the category of Most Outstanding Club President.
In recognition of these outstanding achievements, Senior Lecturer Dr. Chathuni Jayasinghe met with Senior Professor Nilanthi de Silva, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya, on June 24, 2024. Held at the Vice-Chancellor’s office, the event was further attended by Ms. Lasandie de Silva, Vice President for Membership and Ms. Nethmi Gunesinghe, Assistant Secretary.
This remarkable achievement reflects the commitment, leadership, and collaborative spirit of the Leo Club members and their unwavering dedication to community betterment.
