A delegation from the Education University of Hong Kong visited the University of Kelaniya on August 7, 2025. The delegation comprised Prof. Chetwyn Chan, Vice President for Research and Development; Prof. Michelle Gu, Dean of the Graduate School; and Mr. Shiyang Tang, Executive Officer. They met with Senior Prof. Nilanthi de Silva, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya, and Senior Prof. Priyani Paranagama, Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies, for a discussion at the Vice-Chancellor’s office.

During the meeting, the visiting delegation presented information on graduate programs, fellowships and scholarships offered by the Education University of Hong Kong. Both parties explored potential areas of collaboration, and special attention was given to Chinese language, English as a second language and special needs education. The delegation expressed interest in signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Kelaniya, with further discussion to be held virtually.

Dr. Samanthi Jayawardena, Director of the Centre for International Affairs and Ms. Rasangi Gamage, Coordinator, were also present at the discussion.
