Research Grant Management System (RGMS) Officially Launched at the University of Kelaniya

The University of Kelaniya marked a significant milestone in its digital transformation journey with the official launch of the Research Grant Management System (RGMS), held on 9 April 2026 at the Senate Room under the initiative of Senior Professor Nilanthi de Silva, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya.

The Research Grant Management System (RGMS) was successfully brought to life through the collective efforts and guidance of academic and administrative figures at the University of Kelaniya. The project was conceptualized and developed by FCT Technologies, the undergraduate developer team of the Developers’ Club, under the supervision of Dr Muditha Tissera and with strategic direction provided through the Industry Interaction Cell for Computing and Technology (IICFCT), led by Dr Pradeep Samarasekere. This initiative was strengthened through the invaluable support and collaboration of Ms Shyamika Hapuhinna, Acting Deputy Registrar of the Research and Publications Division, together with the administrative staff and the University Research Council. The combined contributions were instrumental in bringing the project to successful fruition.

The launch event was attended by Senior Professor Madawa Chandratilake, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine; Professor Dhammika Weerasinghe, Dean of the Faculty of Computing and Technology; Professor Bandara Wanninayake, Dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies; Dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies; Professor Jeewantha Premaratne, Dean of the Faculty of Science; and Mr K. K. K. Dharmathilaka, Registrar of the University, along with the other  university officials, academic staff, administrative personnel, and members of the development team. During the event, several key segments took place, beginning with a live demonstration by the project lead, followed by the official system launch and the unveiling of the user manual. The occasion also featured an address by the Vice-Chancellor and concluded with an appreciation awarding ceremony for students who were involved in the development of the system. "
