The 158th General Convocation of the University of Kelaniya was held ceremoniously on the 8th of June 2026 at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH), Colombo.

The convocation ceremony consisted of 03 sessions. During the 1st session, 17 graduands of the Doctor of Philosophy Degree, 07 graduands of the Doctor of Business Administration Degree, 19 graduands of the Master of Philosophy Degree, 44 graduands of the Master of Science Degree, 15 graduands of the Master of Public Health in Epidemiology Degree, 01 graduand of the Master of Business Management and Accounting Degree, 02 graduands of the Master of Finance Degree, 77 graduands of the Master of Business Administration Degree, 17 graduands of the Master of Social Sciences Degree, 06 graduands of the Master of Human Resource Management Degree, 13 graduands of the Master of Commerce Degree, 31 graduands of the Master of Fine Arts Degree, 82 graduands of the Master of Arts (Two Year) Degree, 37 graduands of the Master of Business Management in Marketing Degree, 06 graduands of the Master of Information Technology (One Year) Degree, 45 graduands of the Master of Data Analytics (One Year) Degree, 32 graduands of the Master of Biochemistry & Biotechnology (One Year) Degree, 08 graduands of the Master of Environmental Management (One Year) Degree, 26 graduands of the Master of Industrial & Environmental Chemistry (One Year) Degree, 01 graduand of the Master of Crop Protection and Plant Biotechnology (One Year) Degree, 06 graduands of the Master of Analytical Chemistry Degree, 18 graduands of the Master of Professional Finance Degree, and 31 graduands of the Postgraduate Diploma, offered by the Faculty of Graduate Studies, were conferred.
At this session, Ms Shenali Chathuri Dhammearatchi was awarded the Gold Medal presented by the Alumni Association of the Master of Business Administration Degree, for receiving the highest marks at the Master of Business Administration Degree, while Mr Annakkarage Dharana Shakthi Peiris was awarded the Gold Medal presented by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, for receiving the highest Dissertation marks at the Master of Business Administration Degree.
During the 2nd session, 89 graduands of the Master of Business Administration Degree, 50 graduands of the Master of Business Finance Degree, and 392 graduands of the Master of Arts Degree, offered by the Faculty of Graduate Studies, and 07 graduands of the Bachelor of Ayurveda Medicine and Surgery, offered by the Gampaha Wickramarachchi Ayurveda Institute, were conferred.
During the 3rd session, 219 graduands of the Bachelor of Business Management (General) Degree and 01 graduand of the Bachelor of Commerce (Special) Degree, offered by the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies; 40 graduands of the Bachelor of Arts Degree, offered by the Faculty of Humanities; and 270 graduands of the Bachelor of Arts Degree, offered by the Faculty of Social Sciences, were conferred.
At this session, Ms Amarathunga Arachchige Nimasha Indeewari Amarathunga was awarded the Vice-Chancellor’s Gold Medal presented by the Centre for Distance and Continuing Education for receiving the highest marks at the Bachelor of Business Management (General) Degree.
Senior Professor Nilanthi de Silva, the Vice-chancellor of the University of Kelaniya; Deans of the Faculties; Heads of the Departments; Registrar; Librarian; Directors and Chairpersons of the Units and Centers; Academic and Non-Academic Staff; graduands; and their families graced the event.
