Ms M. M. N. T. K. Yalagama officially assumed duties as the Registrar (Acting) of the University of Kelaniya on 16 June 2026 at the Registrar’s office of the University.

Ms Yalagama, the first female Registrar (Acting) at the University of Kelaniya, commenced her career as an Assistant Lecturer at the University of Peradeniya in 1996. She subsequently served as the Welfare Officer at the Sri Lanka Institute of Advanced Technological Education before entering university administration in 2002 as an Assistant Registrar at the Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka. In 2011, she joined the University of Kelaniya as a Senior Assistant Registrar and was later promoted to the position of Deputy Registrar in 2015. During that period, she demonstrated excellence in most of the administrative divisions of the University, such as Supplies, General Administration, Academic, Research and Publication, the Faculty of Graduate Studies, the Faculty of Humanities, Student Welfare, Examinations, and Academic Establishment. She also served as an Assistant Professor at KCGI, Kyoto University, Japan, during 2024 - 2025 before resuming her duties at the University of Kelaniya at the end of 2025.

With extensive experience spanning multiple areas of university administration and higher education management, Ms Yalagama has made a significant contribution to the advancement of Sri Lanka's university sector. Her appointment as the Registrar (Acting) of the University of Kelaniya is a well-deserved recognition of her distinguished service, broad administrative expertise making her exceptionally qualified to assume this important leadership position.
