The 106^th General Convocation of the University of Kelaniya was held on the 26^th of February 2019 at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH).

During the first session, two hundred and nine graduands of Bachelor of Arts (Special) Degree, eighty- two graduands of Bachelor of Arts (General) Degree offered by the Faculty of Humanities and sixty- six graduands of Bachelor of Arts Degree, hundred and twelve graduands of Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree, hundred and twelve graduands Bachelor of Arts (General) Degree offered by the Faculty of Social Sciences were awarded the degrees.

Moreover, the convocation speech for the first session was delivered by Senior Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist and National Consultant in Knowledge Management and Innovation, Dr. Nawaz Jiffry.

During the second session, five hundred and twenty-nine graduands of Bachelor of Arts (Special) Degree offered by the Faculty of Social Sciences were awarded the degrees.

Moreover, the convocation speech for the second session was delivered by Prof. W.I. Siriweera, Chairman- National Education Commission.

Thripitaka Vagishvaracharya, Mahopadhyaya, Pandith, the most Venerable Welamitiyawe Dharmakirthi Sri Kusala Dhamma Thero, – the Chief Prelate of the Colombo and Chilaw regions and the Chancellor of University of Kelaniya presided over the event. Prof. D.M. Semasinghe, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya, Senior Prof. Lakshman Senevirathne, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya, Mr. W.M. Karunarathne, Registrar, Deans of Faculties, Directors of Postgraduate Institutes, Directors of Institutes, Heads of Departments, academic staff members and parents were among the participants of this special ceremony.
