The foundation stone for the ‘Bodhi Prakaraya’ of the Bodhi Tree at the University of Kelaniya was laid on the 22^nd of August 2019.

Present at the occasion were Prof. D.M. Semasinghe, Vice- Chancellor, Senior Prof. Lakshman Senevirathne, Deputy Vice- Chancellor, retired Prof. Kollupitiye Mahinda Sangharakkitha Thero, Chief Incumbent- Kelaniya Raja Maha Vihara, Prof. M. J. S. Wijeyaratne, former Vice- Chancellor of University of Kelaniya, Prof. Sarath Amunugama, former Vice- Chancellor of University of Kelaniya, Deans of Faculties, Heads of Departments, Venerable Maha Sangharathna including Senior Lecturer Ven. Dr. Dodamkumbure Dhammadassi Thero, Director- ICCMS, academic & non- academic staff members and undergraduates.

The ‘Bodhi Prakaraya’ will be declared open on the 01^st of November 2019, the day on which Vidyalankara Pirivena turns 144.
