The Communication and Media Unit of the University of Kelaniya launched its YouTube channel “Vidulakara TV” on the 23^rd of October 2023 at the Senate Room of the University of Kelaniya.

Vidulakara TV is a YouTube channel that shares programs related to a wide variety of fields including health, art, sports, business, and social issues featuring the academic staff and alumni of the university. The primary objective of launching Vidulakara TV was to provide a platform to empower fruitful dialogue to improve national development.

During the launch ceremony, Senior Lecturer Saman Rajapaksha, the Director of the Communication and Media Unit presented a welcome speech highlighting the objectives of the ceremony. Thereafter, the official logo of Vidulakara TV was unveiled.

Senior Professor Nilanthi de Silva, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, and Senior Lecturer Saman Rajapaksha then officially launched the YouTube channel.

Both Professor Emeritus Chandrasiri Rajapaksha and Senior Professor Nilanthi de Silva addressed the gathering highlighting the channel’s commitment to knowledge sharing while Media Officer Mrs. Amani Rupasingha delivered the vote of thanks.

The event was graced by the presence of the Vice-Chancellor, Deans of the Faculties, Heads of the Departments, Staff of the Media Unit, and undergraduates.
