University of Kelaniya Launches “Rāva Pratibhā 2024”

The official launch of Rāva Pratibhā 2024, organized by the Arts Council of the University of Kelaniya, was held on 11th September 2025 at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Social Sciences, in celebration of National Literacy Month. The event was organized under the supervision of Professor Uda Hettige, Chairman of the Arts Council, and was held under the patronage of Senior Professor Nilanthi de Silva, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya.
This initiative aimed to recognize the artistic talents of undergraduates, encourage their creative pursuits, and provide a platform to share their works with a wider audience.
Rāva Pratibhā 2024 is an anthology dedicated to showcasing the literary and artistic creativity of university students. It features 114 diverse works across various genres and spans 292 pages. A special highlight of the anthology is the representation of undergraduates from all six faculties of the University, making it a truly inclusive publication.
During the ceremony, the first copy of Rāva Pratibhā 2024 was officially presented to the Vice-Chancellor by Professor Uda Hettige. The programme also included a guest lecture delivered by retired Professor Darshana Ratnayake on the theme “Literary Creation and Language.”
Contributors to the anthology were awarded certificates of excellence, merit, and recognition at the end of the event, and each of them also received a copy of the publication.
The event was graced by the presence of Senior Professor Sudath R. D. Kalingamudali, Dean of the Faculty of Science; Professor M. M. Gunatilake, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences; Dr. Sudath Senarath, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities; Heads of Departments; academic staff members; parents; and undergraduates of the University.
