The Career Guidance Unit (CGU) of the University of Kelaniya conducted an Awareness Workshop on Safe Migration in collaboration with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the International Service Avenue of the Rotaract Club of the University of Kelaniya. The workshop was held on the 18th of November 2025 at the CGU Auditorium.

The main objective of the workshop was to strengthen undergraduates’ awareness of safe migration practices, clarify essential migration procedures, and equip them with the knowledge needed to make informed and responsible migration-related decisions. A total of 50 registered undergraduates took part in the workshop. The International Organization for Migration (IOM) generously provided refreshments, T-shirts, and informative materials for all participants.

The session was facilitated by Mr. Imthath Basar, National Project Officer; Mr. Thivviyan, Project Coordinator; and Mr. Buddhin Waidyanatha, Junior Project Coordinator of the IOM. Senior Professor Dilkushi Senaratne, Director of the Career Guidance Unit  graced the event accompanied by Career Counsellors Mr. K. A. M. Viraj Abeysinghe and Mrs. R. P. A. Minoon Perera.

The International Service Avenue of the Rotaract Club made a valuable contribution to the success of the programme. Their commitment, organizational support, and collaborative efforts significantly enhanced the smooth execution of the event.
