Central Business Incubator (CBI) of the University of Kelaniya signed two MOUs with National Enterprise Development Authority (NEDA) on the 12^th of January 2023 at the University Premises.

With this collaboration, CBI will be able to gain internship opportunities for the students at the university, promote the undergraduates to the “Upadidari Vyawasayaka Udanaya” competition, which is organized by NEDA, assist to develop an MSME database and provide mentoring services to SMEConnect platform of the above institute.

NEDA is the main governing body of the Small and Medium Enterprise sector in Sri Lanka and Central Business Incubator (CBI) acts as the main hub in promoting entrepreneurial activities in the university, this combination will light up the SME sector in Sri Lanka.

The key objective of signing these MoUs is to enhance and strengthen the collaboration between the NEDA and CBI for the mutual benefit of both parties. Further, creating a platform called "MSME Database of NEDA" for storing and retrieving information and launching a training and guidance platform called "SME Connect" are the most highlighted objectives of the MoUs.

Senior Prof. Nilanthi de Silva, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya, and Mr. Sunil Jayaratne, Chairman/Director General of NEDA signed the MoU on behalf of the respective organizations and the event was graced by the presence of Dr. Narada Fernando, Dean- Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, Mr. K. K. K. Dharmathilaka the Registrar – University of Kelaniya, Dr. M. M. M. Shamil Head of the Department of Commerce and Financial Management, Mr. Dhanuka Liyanagamage, Director of NEDA, Dr. Pubuduni Jeewandarage Director of Central Business Incubator and the coordinator of the MoUs, and a few academic staff members of the Department of Commerce and Financial Management, and other representatives of  NEDA including, Mr. Shashika De Mel, Assistant Director, Ms. Bhagya Nakandala, and Ms. Madhushani Kaushakya.
