University of Kelaniya Signs MoU with Career141 to Strengthen Industry–Academic Collaboration

The Internship and Career Development Centre of the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Career141 Pvt Ltd on 31st March 2026 at the Senate Room of the University. The partnership marks another important step in enhancing industry engagement and creating meaningful career pathways for undergraduates.
Career141 Pvt Ltd has established itself as one of Sri Lanka’s premier recruitment consultancies and manpower solutions providers, with over 20 years of industry experience. The company specializes in headhunting senior executives and delivering tailored recruitment solutions across Sri Lanka, Asia, the Middle East, and Africa, positioning itself as a key player in global talent acquisition.
The primary objective of the MoU is to establish a framework for collaboration that bridges academia and industry by providing students with practical exposure, industry-driven learning opportunities, and structured career pathways. The initiative is expected to enhance graduate employability while aligning academic learning with evolving market demands.
The ceremony was attended by senior representatives from the University of Kelaniya, including Senior Professor Nilanthi de Silva, Vice-Chancellor; Professor Bandara Wanninayake, Dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies; Mr K. K. K. Dharmathilaka, Registrar; and Dr Chathuni Jayasainghe, Director of the Internship and Career Development Centre, along with the Heads of Departments, internship coordinators, and academic staff members. Representing Career141 Pvt Ltd were Mr M. A. Azeemusham, Managing Director; Mr Uzmaan Azeemusham, Associate Director – Digital Marketing and International Business Lead; Ms Nipuni Senanayake, Senior Executive – People and Culture; and other representatives.
During the event, Senior Professor Nilanthi de Silva, Professor Bandara Wanninayake, and Dr Chathuni Jayasinghe addressed the gathering on behalf of the University, emphasizing the importance of strengthening industry partnerships to support student career development. Speaking on behalf of Career141, Mr M.A. Azeemusham highlighted the value of such collaborations in developing future-ready professionals and fostering mutually beneficial relationships between academia and industry.
The MoU reflects a shared commitment to nurturing skilled graduates and strengthening the link between higher education and the professional world, contributing to the development of a competitive and capable workforce in Sri Lanka.
