Korean Ambassador Visits University of Kelaniya and Pledges Support for Korean Language Education

A significant milestone was achieved in Korean language education at the University of Kelaniya, when Ms. Miyon Lee, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, met with Senior Professor Nilanthi De Silva, Vice Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya, on the 8th of November 2024 at the Vice-chancellor’s office.
The meeting focused on exploring future collaborations to promote Korean language studies at the university. Ambassador Lee expressed her unwavering support for these endeavours, highlighting the importance of fostering cultural exchange and understanding between the two nations.
Recalling the captivating cultural show held the previous year, Ambassador Lee expressed her admiration for the talent and dedication of the university's Korean language students. The event showcased Korean culture's vibrant and dynamic nature, leaving a lasting impression on the Ambassador.
The meeting was attended by key figures from both institutions, including Senior Professor Rev. Nadalagamuwe Dhammadinna Thero, Head of the Department of Modern Languages; Ms. Soo Jung Lee, Secretary to the Korean Embassy; and faculty members from the Korean Unit of the Department of Modern Languages.
