The Inauguration Ceremony of the orientation program of the newly introduced BSc Honors Degree in Sports Science, of the Faculty of Science of the University of Kelaniya was held at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Science of the University on the 7^th of June 2022.

There is excellent recognition for Sports Science degree programs in the world today. This newly introduced course is prepared according to international standards while the foremost objective of the introduction of this program is to create a set of educated individuals who excel in both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in sports. Fifty undergraduates are selected through the University Grants Commission for this degree program for each intake, while priority is given to students who display exceptional talent in sports.

The event was graced by the presence of the chief guest, Senior Professor Nilanthi de Silva, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya, Mr. K. K. K. Dharmathilaka, the Registrar, Senior Professor Sudath Kalingamudali, the Dean of the Faculty of Science and Former Vice-Chancellor Emeritus Professor Sarath Amunugama, Deans of other faculties, Sports Advisory Board, Task Force of the BSc Honors in Sports Science Degree Program, Heads of Departments, Academic and non-academic staff, and the first batch of the BSc Honors in Sports Science Degree Program.
