The inauguration ceremony of the Faculty of Science orientation program was held on 21 July 2022 from 0900hrs onwards, at the Board Room of the Faculty of Science, University of Kelaniya.

The event was held physically and online, where invitees and the staff participated physically and virtually while the students and parents participated virtually.

The event was organized to welcome the new undergraduates of the 2020/2021 intake, and the programme included an introduction to the newly commenced degree programmes: BSc Honours in Applied Chemistry and BSc Honours in Electronics and Computer Science. And the orientation program is to be held online from 21-29 July 2022. The Faculty introduced the BSc Honours in Sports Science Degree Programme, and the Orientation program was held on 7 June 2022.

Senior Professor Nilanthi de Silva, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya, Senior Professor Sudath R D Kalingamudali, Dean-Faculty of Science, Heads of the Departments and Units, Dr M A Y L Nadeesha, Senior Student Counselor–Faculty of Science, Dr A P R Wickramarachchi, Director–ICT Centre, Academic staff members and Academic support staff of the Faculty of Science, and, Mr K K K Dharmathilaka, Registrar-University of Kelaniya, Ms N Subbothinie, Assistant Registrar-Faculty of Science, and other non-academic staff participated at the occasion.
