The Alumni Association of the Faculty of Science at the University of Kelaniya held its annual Scholarship Award Ceremony on May 21, 2025, at the Auditorium of the Staff Development Centre.

This year, 76 academically outstanding yet financially disadvantaged undergraduate students were awarded scholarships, made possible through the generous contributions of alumni. The distribution included monthly awards of LKR 5,000 for 12 students, LKR 2,500 for 23 students, LKR 1,500 for 2 students, and one-time grants of LKR 6,000 for 24 students. Additionally, 14 students received the "Professor Sudath R. D. Kalingamudali and His Family Scholarship," each amounting to LKR 5,000 per month. A new scholarship scheme of LKR 8,000 per month was also introduced this year, generously donated by Prof. Ranjith S. Wijesinghe.

Senior Professor Nilanthi de Silva, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, and the ceremony was honoured by the presence of Senior Professor Sudath Kalingamudali, Dean of the Faculty of Science. It was further enriched by the presence of distinguished invitees, esteemed academic staff members, generous alumni, and the scholarship recipients.
