Long Service Awards and Vice- Chancellor’s Awards Ceremony of the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Kelaniya was held on the 17^th of March 2021 at the Boardroom of the Faculty of Social Sciences.

The prime objective of the Long Service Awards and Vice- Chancellor’s Awards Ceremony which is being held annually since 2007, was to appreciate the service of the academic & non- academic staff members during the last year and further encourage them.

Senior Prof. W. A. Weerasooriya, Department of Library and Information Science received a Gold Plated Medal and a Certificate for 35 years of Continuous and Meritorious Service while Prof. M. G. Kularathna, Department of Economics received a Bronze Plated Medal and a Certificate for 25 years of Continuous and Meritorious Service.

Senior Lecturer Dr. H. R. S. Sulochani, Department of Social Statistics won the award for the Outstanding Early Career Researcher of the Faculty of Social Sciences.

Prof. M. G. Kularathna, Department of Economics won the award for the Outstanding Senior Researcher of the Faculty of Social Sciences while Senior Lecturer Dr. S. A. D. H. N. Suraweera and Senior Lecturer Dr. A. W. A. P. L. Wanigasooriya, Department of Library and Information Science won the second and third places respectively.

Prof. M. G. Kularathna, Department of Economics was awarded as the Researcher with the Highest Number of Publications.

Prof. M. M. Gunatilake- Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, Senior Lecturer Dr. G. K. R. Jayaweera, Senior Lecturer Dr. N. P. D. Padmakanthi, Senior Lecturer Dr. P. D. C. S. Dharmadasa, Department of Economics, Senior Lecturer M. Y. N. Mendis- Head, Department of Political Science were awarded as The Recipients of the Highest Amount of (External) Research Grants.

Prof. M. M. Gunatilake- Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, awardees and other faculty staff members were among the participants of this special ceremony.
